At Reddaway you earn your vacation at your anniversary. They would automatically pay out any leftover days from the previous year before they gave you your new vacation. Sick days work the same year. If you don't use them they just pay those out. I'd imagine Holland and YRC work the same way.

Sick time was different for us. That we had to use or lose.

BUT... until recently we had the option of burning personal days on the days the company was closed that we didn’t get paid for like the friday after thanksgiving. The state of MD did us the “favor” of stopping that by passing a new law where we are guaranteed 5 sick days, but the only way to use them is to call out.

At Holland they call them personal days. You can still call in sick if you are sick and burn one personal day that way. But they wanted to give us the option of planning days off in advance that don't count against your vacation.

So about a year or so we got one single electric pallet jack to load straight trucks with. Then several months ago we had a delivery of 10 skids of tile. Lift gate delivery. By that time we got permission to take the pallet jack off site, so I was able to take the electric one with me for this. I didn’t care for it, because it took so much room to turn around, it’d be pretty much useless in the first 1/4 or more of the trailer.

fast forward to today when I delivered to a Clark dealer and saw this bad boy. Same size as a normal pallet jack. Could be a game changer. How many of you would drop your own money on one if the company allowed you to have it.

Did you get a price on one? Forklift dealer in Charlotte has a flyer up for a Chinese brand and they want $1500 for one.

Google search is saying a sale at one point was 2,300 with normal price being 2,800. I’d be curious into the Chinese one. That’s a good price. The good thing about these designs as well, is that if the company doesn’t want you charging on their electric bill, the battery is light and can be taken out so you can take it home and charge it.

The flyer is posted at a place I load at in Charlotte. It’ll be a couple weeks before I load there again.
I do ltl reefer and worry about freezing the jack.

Whole dang computer system is down company wide. Every single truck is sitting with a driver and can't leave because the delivery tablets aren't working and nobody can sign into geo. I sat from around 12:30 until 5 doing absolutely nothing before they sent me home. Ughhh what a night.
