Good for you. Compton is a pretty nice yard. Do you know what the union contract is there? Have heard some things but never seem to be the same lol.

I love driving nights the best. Lately I have been running days. Can't stand it! Almost all my OTR gigs were dedicated and they were cake runs. Dry van making 1200 a week and home every weekend. Ran teams and ran really hard but it was just easier for me. I guess cause I was already in the truck and wanted to get home, so I was more motivated to go to work lol. Now I'm just tired all the time and really don't have anytime to do anything. As soon as I do the phone rings!

I think the OTR guys that don't like ltl are just used to driving and sitting. OTR will get you lazy and fat really quick if you're not careful. I talk to a few of my ex co-drivers sometimes and when I tell them what I do in a day or night, they say screw that! I try to argue the good to them but they are happy making 200-400 less per week and be OTR. Guess they are just happy out there.

Im guessing its about the same as we have up North,we had two new Line Drivers start this week, one quit after the first night, said he didnt realize it was all night work...lol,most of the OTR guys dont adjust well to LTL work cause they want to work at there pace, stop when they want etc.

@BMAC48 Thanks for the info! Good to know that. Now that you say that I remember last year a road driver telling me to write UNSAFE on the write up sheet. My old peddle unit had really bad steering play, was ok through the towns, but on the highways it was all over. The mechanic however said his boss wouldnt allow him to order the parts for it. And of course my last day there before I transfered they repaired it finall.

@Cenutry, it was deff close to that, I will paid my pay rec they give me to get the confirmed number. Went through weigh stations and had no problems either

@Squonk I do park in the fuel lanes lately. Normally other ltl or local guys dont car, its normally the OTR guys who give you dirty looks. Well at least in NY, and New England anyways, enough said about that. Didnt know about the fatigue for extra sleep. My first layover they call my on my 12th hour, on a schedule layover they dont pay you till after 12. On the layover I had when I ran out of hours on my breakdown, I was called right on 8, I was exhausted as they waited a hour to call the cab, took 45 min to get to the hotel LOL. My last layover when I got there, the terminal was closed and I called which the asst manager picked up, and told me ok head back right on break at 8am. I couldve bob-tailed that night which I shouldve. For some reason I was paid hourly for that run as well, but made more money hourly so I wont complain

ACH, they sometimes try to give me dirty looks too when I park in the fuel island. Truth is all truckers do it. I usually have to stop twice to clean all the bugs off my windshield. I'll try to park on the very end of the fuel island, not actually in an island. Truckers used to respect each other enough to leave that spot for doubles. If I don't need to clean my windows and it's day time, I'll try to find a pull through spot and usually do if it's early enough. Up here on the I-5 the truck stops are full on the fuel islands during the day but less full at night. At night there is no parking to speak of in the lot. They need to build more truck stops! It's become a joke trying to get in and out of these places now.

I know what you mean about the 84. Those rest areas were always a mess. I used to hit the Flying J in Harrisburg a lot when I had that dedicated run to Carlstadt. Always easy in and out of there.

ah yes I know that Flying J... lately its been jam packed, Ive parked in quite a few areas. when harrisburg has me bob-tail with dolley to the rail yard on my back north I just park in the regular lot. Usually theres a loves off exit 90 on 81, thats usually never too crowded.

I miss running up that way. Last time was in 2012 and it did seem a lot more crowded all the way up the 81. From VA to the 78 in PA. When I was running dedicated in 2003 it wasn't as bad.
