If you're wanting a Stryker 955 v2, but don't want to drop $400+ you might want to try one of these.

Same power, same board, same capabilities. It has the DSP noise reduction on receive and transmit(helps if you're not using a noise cancelling mic). 11 meter conversion is easy peasy! Snip one wire, move jumper........BOOM, CB band. Only drawbacks I can see right now is mic jack is weird. Adapters are available from Stryker and Walcott(and Fleabay). I don't think the AM audio is quite up to the Stryker, but we'll see. The other thing that might be a deal breaker for some is as with all Anytone radios............no warranty.

Orrrrr save a lil longer...Those are ok radios but being as powerful as they are, they dont get rid of heat very well cause of some crap internals and end up goin poof.

These radios actually do get rid of heat quite well due to the same vented case and large heat sink exactly like the 955v2. Does it compare to your 955 with it's magic "pixie dust" etc.? Probably not.But at $265 and no need for any golden screwdriver to convert it I consider it a bargain. It has many more great features than a v1 at a price point that is easier for the average guy/gal to handle.
I have been using mine for a week and find it to be an easy radio to run mobile. AM modulation? I have had nothing but good reports. I do turn the dead key down just a hair because it's a little high(15w) out of the box. The noise reduction on RX works great! It also has a noise gate for TX which should come in handy if you want to use a power mic mobile. The menus are easy to navigate. Like different mics (electret/dynamic)? It has a setting for that. Like echo? Easily set in the menu. No knocking the echo off kilter whilst fiddling with the too close together knobs on a 955! The amber display works real nice night and day.

As far as heat issues check this video out. Same radio just has the CRT brand on it. If anything is going to make a radio hot, running on FM will do it!
    18 minute mark......

Its physically small with a heat sync thats also small...So now it has to use tje rest of the body to eliminate heat...
As for the venting like the v2,a place for djst to get in and add to the heat issue..Nope not for me...
The scott i think your referring to has the 6666...
I had a 447hpc2 and noticed it got a lil warm when running higher power in it and its basically the same thing as the quad 6 but w/o ssb...
To make that thing run cooler its gonna need some work....

That's a pretty stout looking heat sink! I think you're confusing this with the Quad 6 which will get hot if you're long winded. This radio is the same size as a 955.

Another nice feature on this radio is it has weather band and a weather alert! I had the alert turned on when I installed it and didn't give it another thought. A couple of days later I'm sitting in the truck doing paperwork and I hear these tones and wonder WTF? It was a test of the weather alert system around Pittsburgh! Might be real handy someday.
