UPS OTR Driver/Team Driver Questions

    From looking at the forums it seems like 1 year of experience is required to get these jobs. In my area there are 6 jobs posted for solo drivers and team drivers. On the posting it doesn't say anything about the 1 year requirement. It only mentions Hazmat, Dot Physical, road test etc. could anyone explain how being hired off the street for those positions work and what is it like specifically about team dedicated positions. Im a new CDL grad looking to make a career change from the Public Safety field so the grooming and uniform standards are a non issue for me. Thank you all in advance for any help.

    I've been shopping around,looking to get back out there after being disabled due to 2 failed back surgeries in 05'.Every company I've spoken to,it's the same story.They all want 1yr.verifiable OTR driving.Altogether I have over 40yrs. in the industry, to them it's as if I never drove a truck.I think as a young guy just out of school you have a better chance of getting hired,but plan on spending a lot of time with a trainer next to you and at a very low pay scale.Once you get past that first year you can write your own ticket.Good luck and welcome to an exciting career. Definitely, never a dull moment.Myself, I've decided to make my own tractor roadworthy and going back to being an O/O.
