What is important to you in a driving job?

The normal for % pay Is 25 % for newer guy and around 30 for the experience people's 23 could work if your training them.

 

As an employer I’d urge you to not pay percentage. When times are good you won’t make enough to store money back for the bad times. In the bad times the drivers will leave you for per mile pay. Drivers will also count your money and decide they can do it better and buy a truck, and try to steal your customers.

Not everyone is like that but a good bit are unfortunately. Id just pay something like .60/mi and have a weekly guarantee. If your feeling extra frisky then do .65 since you’re not established and need to get drivers badly.

 

Yes, you are definitely too trusting but I applaud and admire your good nature. It’s important and for me mandatory to be a good, honest, and fair person and therefore company owner. However, people absolutely will try and take advantage of you and lie to your face extremely convincingly. You become cynical and at times quite jaded. But, that’s all part of the learning process and you’ll also pickup along the way some true top notch people who will be instrumental in making your company a success and learning from them.

As far as the 1 yr thing... forget it. Not everyone is cut out to own a truck, in fact very few people are. All you would be doing is losing the people who you need to keep, and potentially leading someone into failure that otherwise would be happy making you and themselves steady money.

If people want to know how much a loads paying it ain't that hard people love to talk.
With mile pay alot of people expect good mile ever week with stop pay, Detention pay etc etc. At the end ether way people want to make good money.
Or some other goal that they want to reach with or without you

 

For some it’s a temporary job. For others it’s a lifestyle and family tradition.
