Yep. Eastbound. Starts about the 27. Right lane closed to about the 24. Was backed up into the gorge to the 16 Monday when I came by. I'll be in it shortly once I'm rolling from my break at the 440.

I'll take 64 to Lexington just to avoid Cincinnati. Yeah, I am not a fan of the Maryland and WV hills in a semi.

I'll take mountains over city construction any time. Give me a engine with enough horse to make it worth my while to do so. I actually need the mountains to do my best work. In the city? Not so much.

Any way you can get to Charlotte is going to have to be a choice to make how to get there. If you consider as others have stated where you will be going to unload at Charlotte, it should make your routing somewhat clearer. I guess if I had to, Fancy Gap will be my way in. But it will end up right at the north side of the place and that's no fun.

Others already gave a good route but to answer your question for future reference, there are 3 toll booths throught that stretch each one costing $6.75 cash price.

I can also confirm they do take EZPass and Ipass.

40 on the TN side has construction.. - not sure if still in effect..

    Quote

"a little heads up for all you guys going to and from Knoxville TN to Asheville NC and between, the geniuses at NC DOT thought it would be smart to work on the interstate doing several different projects at once. So for 20 miles heading into Asheville NC from TN border you will sit and sit and sit and sit because it is down to one lane for 20 miles. Yesterday I burned almost a 1/4 tank of gas sitting in traffic for over 1 1/2 hours. This construction will be from now until around May 12 or 13 so if ya'll know of alternative routes maybe consider them. Just some FYI guys"
