so how did your interview go, or did they let you start training to be a driver yet. We have a guy who worked the dock for the longest time ad decided to drive now and says he wishes he did it sooner.

Good I guess....last week the TM said I was approved to go to City Driver School. And at the same time the new TM at YRC wants to put me through a training program.
So i guess I have to make a choice in the near future.
The bids are up now at YRC,39 bids-39 ppl on list.:biggrin_25511:

City Driver school is the ABF deal.
Apparently YRC new training (driving) they hire a private instructor.

Yes I remember, ABF sends you to a school, i believe its 4 weeks long. THey pay for gas, school, hotel, and give u spending money for food and things. You are locked onto a 2 year contract after that. Thats what they told me when I had an interview with them

It all depends on which company you wish to be with. Im not too familar with YRCs private instructor. The reason I denied the ABF job was because it was a hour away from my house and couldnt guarantee work everyday, where as YRC is 20 minutes away.

Apparently it's a new thing they will do at YRC.
Basically I'm in the same boat either way I go(on call)
YRC is 9 miles from house,ABF is 30 miles but the pay is higher.
They both operate in the same area(territory)
I also work a full time as of now and casual dock at YRC.
I signed the list to work this past friday and they called ,so I went in.They had more freight than expected for Good friday.
