Fridge and microwave install

Your best bet is a 12 volt compressor driven refrigerator. NOT a 12 volt " cooler". Spend the money upfront, grocery shop regularly..... Walmart is your best bet.....easy access almost EVERYWHERE! You will pay for the upfront cost in 60 days.

 

Engel fridges are what you want.

 

I should clarify........Walmart for GROCERIES......not the 12 volt refrigerator.

 

I ended up going with a 2500 watt inverter and a dorm size fridge (like you find in a hotel room). I picked up the fridge at Wally World for about $250 and I *think* the inverter cost around $300, can’t remember for sure. But, no more issues when I went to that setup.

Hell it was so good i still keep it in my pickup. We only had to replace one and that was our fault. Worked fine summer or winter.

That said i would not keep anything that would go rancid if it gets a little warm in it. Its great for drinks, some snack foods and veggys that arent ultra sensitive to temprature. If it gets too cold an 8 hour hand warmer under it or taped ABOVE (not over) the fan keeps stuff from freezeing.

For heating food up you have a few options as well. You can get the 12 volt ovens https://www.amazon.com/Koolatron-LB...1&keywords=12+volt+oven&qid=1618194284&sr=8-3 like this that can heat and even cook food in little dispisable tin bread pans. And to keep veggys around you can buy #5 cans of freeze dried and mix as needed into a pan with fresh if you can get it to make great meals, looks expensive up front but is usually FAR cheaper then truckstop chow and lighter then fresh food. Same with freeze dried meals. Just put them in a pan with water, cover with foil and heat 30 mins or so. You can also get achohol stoves and a nice flat rock to cook on with a camping skillet or pot and make all kinds of goodies that way too.

Which can power a SMALL microwave easily and is fairly portable and only costs as much as a good pure sinewave inverter. I keep a smaller 500W version in my truck for emergancys. Handy little things and are great getting power to my tools for repairs without needing an inverter or extension cords. And its lasted over 4 years now.
