I'm in NM headed for Tucson, AZ for a Monday morning delivery.

I have some extra time on this load, which I'm glad for since I've been a bit sick the past couple days. I can get around 400-450 miles before I start to really feel bad, so I've been shutting down early and trying to get some extra sleep.

Plus-1 had me delivering at 0600, when the notes in the load assignment said receiving hours were from 0715-1300 FCFS.
So I did a Mac22 with an 0900 delivery so I wouldn't have to fight for a dock with all the early birds. My actual window is that full time.
I'm sure some of them will end up sitting for a couple hours waiting for a dock.

And a few hours more sleep will do me good. If I can get enough sleep I'll avoid getting really sick.

Thanks and nice run. Memphis must like you. All that I can get out of them when I am in Ohio is, well never mind. I am surprised that I got this one from KY to Rapid city, and a chance of one right out of Rapid city heading to Texas and then home

talked with my buddy today who was my mentor and he said he is ready to get off being OTR after all these years and he mentioned looking for a dedicated so I have passed his info onto my DM who might bring him in for a couple weeks to start since we need another driver bad right now so will give him a call tomorrow to get his truck number since I cant remember it and then get them chatting so maybe I might get to hang out with him again. We took over some JB hunt stores permanently which began today so everyone is driving hard trying to cover all the extra work.

I have 11:42 left on my 70 and dont gain anything for 2 days so time for my 34, tomorrow or well today im set to deliver to North Hollywood which I dont look forward to since its a very tight turn to dodge cars for a uturn into the dock, hopefully it wont be packed with cars at the time I get there and then I return for a load going to Lancaster then shut down at the Loves in Tehachapi and go home. The first load is supposed to cut at 17:00 but the DM said it should cut much sooner, i hope this is one where they cut by noon, he said they are working around the clock tonight to get the loads done. I wouldnt complain if they would give me loads north everyday, those tend to be easier than a lot of the LA area targets, only north store that was a pain was in Tracy and mostly since every dang car in the world seems to want to use the back road and they wont stop for a truck trying to move around. Which reminds me when delivering to Paqoima yesterday I actually had a couple cars fly in behind my trailer to get past me as im backing towards the dock and had an suv fly in front of me when I was doing a pull up to fix myself with a wall about 10 feet in front of me, wtf do these 4wheelers think half the time? I think some have a death wish.

Plan to take my family to a holiday lights show thats near Bakersfield every year on Tuesday, I know they will really enjoy it and my mom got me 2 tickets so I only have to pay for my oldest daughter.

Wolfy, have you received your first full paycheck since going on dedicated? If so is it an increase and are you happy?

Patiently waiting this morning for a new DEF line to arrive from the KW shop a couple miles away. Once it arrives they will determine if it will do the job, the part number didn't match but the dimensions apparently match. If it is workable they might have my truck ready this afternoon, which would let me finish out my run to Phoenix for a live unload. 460 miles with a 6:00 am appointment means I'll have to do a night run with little chance to sleep in the lounge chairs during the day.

Orlando. Delivered in Miami this morning and was sent here to drop my empty at a customer and bobtail out. Got a preplan as I was pulling in with ***DO NOT BOBTAIL TO THIS FACILITY*** and "...Must have safety shoes to be admitted to the property" which I assume means steel toe shoes of some sort. So I declined given that I was without an empty and only have sneakers with me. I refuse to wear boots if I am not flatbedding. Got a message back asking if I could be more specific with "safety shoes" and saying my shoes would be fine and it is okay to bobtail because it's a preload. Told them I was just going by what the comments said, and I will run it if they say its fine. Nothing back except for the removal of the preplan. Who knows. I would have called and asked before declining but it was after hours and we are repeatedly told not to call so the "true emergencies" can get thru. And when I do call, they just tell me to send a message anyway.

RC, if I get a preplan like that in your situation the first thing I would do is call the DM's and ask about the load before responding on Mac-9. I've learned there is often wide latitude and often the "boiler plate" instructions are from CSR (customer service reps) that often don't apply to your load. Better to talk to the DM, they have more complete information than the load offer contains, like actual "shipping windows" that aren't driven by the computerized "Plus One" system for example.

Now I'll often just flat out accept a load offer after talking with my DM that I would normally have declined in the past. I'll then usually get a message from the DM noting that the load offer is accepted with a wide delivery or pickup window, or it's okay to bobtail to the customer, etc.

    RightCoast Thanks this.

My truck is finally out of the shop in Albuquerque. New DEF hose installed and another regen and let's hope it is good. I plan to get started tonight at 8:30 pm to run to my 6:00 am appointment for a live unload in Phoenix. Hopefully the customer unloads on time...

I have horrible luck with most of the night dispatchers (the two ladies are great). I have had them quite literally tell me to send a message then hang up. And when I send a message I wait upwards of an hour to hear anything back and it is usually some vague unhelpful answer or a stupid question to my question. My DM is okay when I can reach him. I am slowly learning how the system works but there are just some things that make me shake my head. I helped on the Sears account the other day and that was great. As have the other dedicated accounts I have pulled a load for. Their crews seem to have it together and I would kill to work for one of them.
