Since I can't seem to get answers the traditional way, I'll ask here. Any current drivers (or RECENT former ones) can you tell me if Knight still has a rather restrictive idle policy, and even more importantly, do they still have the trucks set to shut down between 30 and 70 degrees?

I know they don't have APU's, just bunk heaters. I'm ok with that, and using the bunk heater in the winter, but...I can't sleep in hot, stuffy conditions, and need air conditioning in the the summer when I'm sleeping.

Any compromise to my safety and health is not worth the hassle. Local work and sit idle in my Lazy boy after a good dinner with my ice cold beer. Any idle restrictions and they have solutions out here to make a driver more comfortable and they won't invest? I wonder how they really treat their drivers...

Dont know how it is these days as I left when diesel was $4/gal and they were strict on idling by affecting your Gov speed and bringing up during your yearly raise review!

They suck apu on truck would help the driver out. Safety can't be their main concern. They can have their job I wouldn't work for someone who worry about idle time. I need to be comfortable when on the road. If it's gonna cost me a raise to be safe then they don't care about anyone....

Yes, thru still have idle limiters for those temps. Their idle policy went up to 18%. They also got rid of the 61mph speed penalty. It only goes down to 63/64 (depending on truck type) if idle not met.

Depending on the terminal they will also bug the crap out of u for idling, regardless of how hot it is outside.

Guess I may want to rethink what I was about to do. I wanted to alternate home time between PA and AZ so I could spend time with my mom in Phoenix. I may have to look at other ideas...

They are a decent starter company, ill at least say that as I worked for them for many years. The problem is they have turned to profit over everything now. They are trying to double the profit margins within 5 years so they started changing how things operate and how they conduct them selves.

Alot of changes over the year, and I have seen alot of staff come and go as of late which was rare for my terminal. And now with Driver cams going in and the amount of events that can trigger them "upto 23 as of the day I left" from simply following to close 2 and 1 half truck and trailer lengths away to hitting 70mph down a hill its gotten to the point of stupidity now.

They term'ed 6 drivers out of the SLC yard for doing a U turn at the end of a street that has a turn around at one of our customers.

Lots more and I could go on but no need to beat a dead horse. It is what it is they have changed models and are full steam ahead with there plans.
