Driver should be over 40 with experience and able to drive a 13 speed. Not to say a younger driver will not be hired, but one over 40 has a better chance getting along with the owners. This is a very easy company to work with and is IDEAL if you live within 30 minutes of Lockwood Missouri.
My company is looking to replace me. It is good as I need to move on. T&B Welding and Trailers has a Nice truck and very good family company. They are a Manufacturer of Custom Flatbed trailers and the EZ Hauler Hay trailer. Deliveries go down to Louisiana for the far south, North Dakota on the far North. Western Oklahoma to Eastern Tennessee or Kentucky. Most runs are back the same day, many are 2 day runs and a few are 3 day runs. The truck is a very clean 2019 Peterbilt 389 Glider 285 wheelbase. Trailers both Manac Step Deck 53 foot trailers. I have spent the last 6 months working with the boss to bring them all up to date with inspections and repairs. I would honestly say it is one of the cleanest trucks out there now.
Pay will be based on your interview and experience, but I started at .45 CPM both directions. Most of the time the return is empty but still paid. Most of the runs I took they paid Google miles, but I only had a couple runs were we differed in total distance which was less than 20 bucks. Work depends on availability of materials to build. On a good week they go thru over 200 tires so you can stay busy if you want. On the average I was making about 32k for this year. Finding metal and tires was hard and we had some slow weeks. Looking at the mileage on the truck and old logs the norm would be closer to 50k a year. Some weeks were over 3000 miles some were 200. On the slow weeks I was allowed to work hourly in the shops.
The trailers are all preloaded and strapped for the driver. At delivery you have to unstrap and help mount tires. It is not too bad as it usually takes about an hour and a half to unload. Some loads will have a haul back to pickup which you are responsible for balancing the load and securing it. Some yards were better than others but I always had the final say where the load was placed.
The truck is above average on condition and repairs. I could pull 80MPH in the Dakota's with a full load, but when hauling pipe over the hills it will work hard. The truck has a real tight 13 speed so you have to be able to drive a manual. I had it wired for an inverter but you will have to bring your own inverter. It is also longer than the slant nose trucks combined with long spread axle trailers. Loaded it is not easy to park at small truck stops. Overall length is 79 feet loaded.
Contact for an interview is Steve at 417-232-4122 or email steve@tbtrailers.com Steve responds quickest on a phone call. He is normally the one that will answer. It would be best if you were close to Lockwood Missouri for this job. You will not live in the truck on weekends like most OTR/Regional drivers do. The company offers medical but I had the VA so I cannot tell you about that. My first raise was at 90 days.
I will try to read this post often and answer questions. If you message me I can try to call you back but it is best you first talk with Steve. Then if you need to know more I am happy to answer anything. I will also show you where you drive and some of the tight locations you back into.
