Marten Transport Sleep Apnea scam

$5k a pop? dont know where the heck you went, mine was under $1k which insurance covered and I know 2 drivers on my fleet who went for physicals and forced to take the study because of bmi and they went to a normal clinic not a company doctor but they told me the study was like $750 if insurance did not cover it. The machine is whats expensive if you have to cover it and do indeed get diagnosed. I was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea and was put on a bilevel bpap which ran $309 a month but insurance covered me and its paid off now which I think the total cost was around $3k but they have cpaps in just the $100's

 

CR England's was $5K and the diagnosing doctor, while supposedly independent of the company, officed out of their headquarters.

 

Which makes me wonder why you haven't sued Marten for practicing medicine without a license.

 

I drive for marten and they pay for testing and the machine. All you have to do is use it. It does sense breathing patterns so driver fired himself by not using it as prescribed. I use cpap and have no issues. Have lost 18 lbs since May, rarely toss and turn where as I was very restless prior to cpap treatment. Some criteria are crap, no set standards by fmcsa yet. But they pay for it so I use it . It's that simple.

 

Everyone is bloody sue-happy.Nothing to sue for.Marten does not practice medicine. They have certified sleep specialists who go over the application/medical history of applicants. They also observe behavior during orientation to see if you doze off. If you do you will likely have to take test. They give you the test machine,you go to the hotel put machine in and go to sleep. Bring machine back next day, Dynamic Apnea Solutions checks data and makes determination and issues prescription for use.

 

To me thats a horrible way to test and get results, best to go to an actual sleep center like I did where they monitor everything and adjust etc while you sleep to know what you actually need.

As for the falling asleep in orientation? Heck I can do that even using a machine....its called extreme boredom.

 

Yet no one has explained how it's a scam when it doesn't cost the drivers a penny.

 

very true, if my company was to force the test and they paid for everything then I would go for another just because everything is covered.
