Ok, so I bought a truck that had an N14, sans fi system, they want more for the parts than I paid for the truck, and I have read about all the problems they had with the injectors shorting out. Is there any reason I shouldn't put an 855 top end on the N14?it's my understanding that it's an easy conversion, maybe as simple as using 855 injectors.any info appreciated.

It is no where close to that easy.
It requires a camshaft change, then you would need the mechanical N14 top end along with the STC parts.Diesel Dave, pushbroom, BoxCarKidd and 1 other person Thank this. -

My personal Opinion is; It will be more trouble than It's worth. .!
You will also have to change the fuel Pump & all the Throttle assembly.
Once you remove the ECM Most of your gauges won't work.
As has been mentioned you will also need to change the; cam, heads, Injectors & Fit all the STC components..
Good luck, & keep us Posted on Your Progress.. -
Why not just swap engines to the old 855 big cam 3 or 4?

N14 is a good engine, cheap parts, economical, and easy to repair.
