New horizons with Holland Enterprises (Fargo,ND)

Sounds like you're in Anacortes or Tacoma, WA or Savanna, GA. I was just sent a 2700 mile run (east to west) that was timed good, then hour later they moved the pickup back, from noon to 20:00 (due to production issue) but held the delivery appt.

Be a good run for a nights preferred driver but I 'ain't one.

Also, it delivers day after payroll cut off.

I had misread my calendar by a day. It was a good run to Stockton. I've ran roughly 650 miles/day average the 4 days since leaving Friday morning when I left Winston-Salem. Will run the last 100 miles on the 4th to a noon appt. I think (suspect) this is a broker load I'm currently on, but I like that particular [dry] shipper in NC.

Preplan sent on Monday, 3rd is frozen Sacramento to Maryland with a drop in Wisconsin but none of the appointments are set yet. It's good to be back "in the groove".

I keep getting good coast to coast runs back to back with tight schedules . I love it but we need to get rid of that 34 hr reset thing

 

Are all of the new trucks Auto shift ?

 

Taking a 34 is optional, so why get rid of it? Just don't take one then, I'm local so maybe I don't get it.

 

It was more of a joke .

I was just saying that it would be nice to run the full hours everyday and never have to stop . Running on recap gets iffy when you have to wait until midnight to get say ~ 3 hours , then wait another 20 hours to get say ~8 hours

I ran local before too ,so I can understand why you wouldn't get this

I guess in a perfect world we'd get our 3500 mile run in 5.5 days and get a 34 hour reset at home after each run every single time

 

I think getting rid of the 70/8 rule would go a long way to making the HOS rules much more easier and better for all, without sacrificing "safety". As an added plus, it would be so simple to enact.

If some segments or carriers wanted to still run that way as a matter of practice or company policy, there would be nothing stopping them.

 

Well, the day after the 4th has arrived. Some wheels are starting to turn again. The appointment times for the Sacramento to Maryland [via Wisconsin] got finalized. I complained a little about the overall time on the load (8 days to cover 2900 miles with 1 drop-off) and they took it off of me.

I wasn't trying to be difficult but I just came off a bad payroll due to cutoff timing, and this would set me [or someone else if swapped] up for another weak or average paycheck [even with the carry over miles]. I even proposed letting me pick it and drop it 200 add'l miles OOR at the yard for something else where it could sit for about 24-36 hours.

Anyway, she said she'd have the details of a wine load nailed down by around noon.

The point is, Holland will work hard to keep all working as effectively as possible as long as you say something when you have a legitimate complaint. A mid-week holiday always makes for setbacks and delays, and I'm glad this is the last one for a while.
