I'll take the leaks, bad wiring and rotten airlines over the week of down time and $15k bill when the DPF acts up. I'll invest in a good drip pan and carry extra fluids. Go back to my army roots.

I think the def and other issues are due to neglect
The oldest truck I’ve had in the past 7 years has been a 2014
But I do things most guys and companies don’t and I don’t have any issues.

How are we neglecting the DPF? Were keeping DEF in the tank, monitoring the soot levels and doing the regins when requested. What else are we supposed to be doing?

I flush the egr every year
Never get a sensor code or anything

I did have a sensor issue several years ago after 3 shops I finally ended up at KW in Ogden
The flushed the egr and a few other things and they said guys they service do it every fall and are never on a hook

I’ve been doing that ever since and have had zero issues

I just hope the exemption cut off is the same as the ELD! If not for the sustainability…..I’m making more CPM at $5.50 per gallon with my EGR,DPF,SCR, ELD exempt 700hp CAT than I was when fuel was $2.00 per gallon. I’m acutely aware that my good fortune is unsustainable as discretionary spending is finite in this fiscal climate. I’m driving 80mph where the speed limit allows. Will it be $8.00 fuel or 62mph speed limiters for old CAT engines in 389’s that will force me into well deserved retirement? Hummmh!

Hopefully it's the $8 a gallon then I'll give you extra cash for your retirement in exchange for those keys and make money with that truck in the oilfield.

Call me a sicko…but I hope to put an additional million or so on this girl and maybe mid 70’s in age (late 40’s now) before I hang up the keys. If I have to dodge too many more of these bureaucratic bowel movements, I might end up bored on a beach with a pickled liver in Mexico?

I'm not going to call you anything. You do you. I'm younger than you are but these bureaucrats are about to put me somewhere with a pickled liver. Possibly in a straight jacket lol. I previously hadn't had much interest in buying a tractor but now I'm seriously considering an old school coal roller with loud jakes just to tick them off.

Ha! I've heard about the mpg increase as well but I've also noticed guys making big hp swearing that twins are better. It's a little beyond me at that point because I've never ran a set of twins.
