I am needing to haul my own personal farm tractor about 300 miles in Texas. I am taking it to a dealer to trade it in on another one. The tractor had dual rear wheels but I took them off. Still the axles are just over 9’ wide. Nothing on the tractor is over 7’ except the rear axles sticking out another foot on each side.
I have never hauled anything oversize before. What do I need to do to be legal or might I be covered under some sort of farm exemption?

You're permit runs through TXPros. Just google oversize permit Texas. If it's 9ft, permit to 9.5ft, probably be around $125 iirc.
Edit: Guess I missed Old Mans post, could've swore it was more $.farmerjohn64 and cke Thank this. -
If it's yours, I would load it & go. I hauled 1 like that for years with a baler hooked up here in TN and never was bothered. There's a difference in hauling your own equipment and hauling for hire.
Isafarmboy and cke Thank this. -
What @Old Man said ...pretty easy
Read the conditions on the permit and it will explain what you need / you will have a route to follow/ it will tell you when you can travel and when you can’t -

You can haul your own In Oklahoma , call Texas and ask, go without and if anything happens it’s your fault. $60 is pretty cheap insurance, if you bring one back get a 30 day blanket, there won’t be routes on it.
