The quote you posted specifically implies any subject working FOR a motor carrier, to complete a full log of duty. And that would be correct. But OP has 2 different employers, to best of my understanding.

 

This is a copy and paste of what I said,

I don't know what the OP'S regular job is, just giving a heads up.

If both jobs are for a carrier they both must be logged even if they are different carriers.

If 1 job is for a non carrier then no it doesn't have to be logged. however even if not logged it's still up to the carrier to make sure i e liable, to make sure the driver is fit to do the job.

Ughmm.. not transport industry, motor carrier. The definition in the act you posted strictly states "motor carrier". So OP logs all duty pertaining to carriage of cargo with a motor carrier. But he can work for a shipper in the office, without logging that duty.

I'm sure someone else is flexing their fingers to type on here to correct us both. lol.

I got this info directly from a supervisor MTO officer. If you have two jobs both must be logged. If your second job is working in a whse and that employer has a cvor and is governed by hos, you must log it. Do I agree with this? Not at all. Don’t shoot the messenger. Lol

 

If you eliminate the period after logged I would agree.
Otherwise it seems slightly confusing

 

Any ‘compensated work’ must be logged. There are a few ‘carve outs’ to that rule. If you are in the Military Reserve, or the Nat. Guard, and you are on maneuvers you don’t log those hours, also a few ‘family’ operations are also exempt, such as a family farm etc.
It’s no different than if you drive as your main source of employment, or your driving is a ‘side gig’.
That’s how it was explained to me by the safety dept., at a previous employer.
As long as remain within the HOS, you should be fine.
In other words, putting in 22 hrs driving on a weekend, after working 50 hours during the week somewhere else would be a no-no.

 

Are you in Canada? Their hos is different.

 

Not true as written. Only work for a motor carrier has to be logged.
