I don’t know how good one would be after getting smacked by a truck, but last year there was a dead button buck on the street right in front of my neighborhood when I got off work. Called my wife to ask if it was there when she went to work, and when she confirmed it wasn’t I scooped him up and took him to the processor. I got it all hamburger, but it is fine. Still have a couple packs left.

I have had full size grill guards on both of my trucks. The only deer I ever struck hit the tandems under the trailer.

Call hunters for the hungry or you can get an accident tag from the state police in CT.

The only good front end protection is a moose bumper from MikMak or from Herd.

Got it. That answers the question. I was fairly sure I had heard they were making them themselves at one time. Was going to stop by one of their terminals and see if I could find the right guy to hand some cash too. Have to stop being so cheap and just buy one from Iowa 80 or somewhere like a normal person.

In Ohio most jurisdictions will issue a deer slip provided by ODNR. They'll come to the scene and make sure it was struck by your vehicle. Once you have the deer slip, you can legally possess the carcass. I don't know what other states might do this.

Never really understood jurisdictions making a complicated matter out of someone taking away a deer carcass. If no one claims it most areas have the carcass picked up by the road kill truck and away it goes to the county landfill.
