So I pony up and spend 160$ on a bear cat 880 30$ for an antenna kit 30$ for an antenna mount and still can’t get the blasted thing to work!

I can ONLY mount using the bolts on the plastic mirror (2016 cascadia)

can someone please walk me through getting this thing to where I can use it? The manual is as useful as toilet paper. Explain this to me like I’m a toddler please.

edit:SWR meter that’s built in is reading high on every channel when I try to turn up the power. I can use the calibration setting to get swr to 1.0 on all channels but then have a half mile range.

    slow.rider Thanks this.

Well the internal swr meter on a lot of these CB radios are worthless, I'm not sure about the 880. You need to use an external swr meter with a jumper coax. Also, you don't tune the antenna by adjusting the calibration knob on the radio. You have to adjust or trim the antenna. Your not alone, there's a great thread on this site by Mike5511 that's explains how to get a cb antenna to work on a cascadia truck. What type of antenna did you buy?
