I just got an email from a company looking to hire hazmat drivers for a government contract, and they're willing to sponsor us to get Top Secret Security Clearances which are extremely valuable to have on a resume for cushy government jobs. The only problem is I must have a teammate. Would anyone be looking to get one with me and drive teams?

    It won’t be top secret
Will Just be a basic clearance

But it’s a barrier that a lot lot of drivers can’t pass, so it opens up jobs that a lot of drivers can’t compete against
    You for .

I have a feeling they aren't telling you the entire story here, ESPECIALLY in these crazy times. A government Haz-Mat job? :evil3:

What is it and why won’t most people pass?

Because they're subjected to a thorough investigation. Friends, family, employers and their own personal biases and weaknesses...financial, substance abuse, gambling, etc.. Things that would make them vulnerable to compomising their trustworthiness. A lot of people don't think about being 'pristine'. It's a driving background check or TSA background check, notched up 10 times of getting into your business. A lot of people can't pass based on the criteria used.

I was listening to a joe rogan podcast and a guy who got contracted to the government had top secret clearance, his wife cheated on him and they got rid of him before he even knew because they were monitoring all the phone lines of his friends and family.

Depending on the sensitivity of the position, I wouldn't doubt it, though I suspect that a Hazmat driving job for the gov won't rise to that level, it possibly could. :) In this day and age of technology, it's a lot easier than it used to be, to keep tabs on people and their communcations. :(

What are the criteria, and more importantly, what are the most common reasons why applicants are rejected?

Hiding stuff. They don't really care about what happened in the past for the most part, just that it's not hidden.
Basically if you can be blackmailed you won't get clearance.
At least that's what was said by FBI agents on some documentary I watched.
