I've just recently joined the forum. I used to work for Alltrans Express in Burnaby, BC (not as a driver), then married into the business and did some contract work (marketing) for a couple of Canadian trucking companies back in the early 90s. I started writing mystery novels featuring a truck driver who was a retired RCMP detective and my husband was my trucking consultant. I wrote two and began a third.

Well, I never found a publisher for my two novels and my husband died of cancer in 1996. I moved on, now live on a farm,( :Horses: ) but always wanted to get back to writing one day. Now that e-publishing is here, I've decided to publish my own novels as ebooks, however I'd like to find some critics who can read my work and give me advice. (Nice that you can do revisions of ebooks.)

If anyone on the forum likes to read murder mysteries and has a Kindle - please introduce yourself. I can email you a free copy to your Kindle address if you'll agree to give me your feedback.

    Hello and welcome!
Sounds like you have a great plan there : )
I don't have a Kindle, otherwise I would love to read your books, maybe you are Canada's answer to Agatha Christie. :biggrin_25514:

Not sure how many truckers have time to read novels though, if I'm honest. Now an audio book, that would be a different story, truckers spend so many hours on the road, and the radio gets kinda tedious after a while, so a good audio book would be very welcome. (just my 2c worth, hope i'm not discouraging you from what sounds like a great career!)

I think the newer Kindles are planning on having text-to-speech. It might not be this generation coming out in fall, but I believe it is planned. Kindle is available on every platform from PC to Mac to iPhone to Android (and more.)

I hav a kindle. I dont drive so I hav all kinds of time. Get bored sometimes lol. But I just started a book by my favorite author J.A. Jance. I'm also trying to write my first book and my husband is my editor and guidance to writing a better book; so pretty much writing it together lol But I could read your book I wouldn't be able to get to it right away though....

    Hi, Riding Wife -

Sorry, but I can't send a PM yet. However I wanted to let you know that my mystery novel is now on Amazon in a Kindle edition and also on Smashwords in several different formats. The title is "Slow Curve on the Coquihalla" by RE Donald, a Hunter Rayne highway mystery. My "semi" professional hero is a former police detective who is now driving a big rig.

You can use a coupon code of PQ88X on Smashwords and get it for just $0.99 until the end of the month, at least. If you do get time to read it, I would love to hear what you think so I can do better next time.

    Thanks, and best wishes!
    Ruth
