Okay so I took a Yard Jockey position to get more home time ( John Fayard ). The job is really meh with a crummy yard and equipment and pay could be better, but I have had great home time. Work schedule is 3 on 3 off then 4 on 4 off with 12hr shifts. It's over nights, so on slow shifts I can chill out in the break room. I'm a night person anyway so working all night doesn't bother me.
I want more income though and I'm discussing 2 possible options for more OT. One is to do a 1 day round trip from out location near Mobile, AL to Memphis, TN to what will probably be Kimberly Clark there.
2nd Option is to get stuff from the Ports in Mobile that probably goes either to Kimberly Clarke in Mobile or to our site nearby in Theodore, AL or maybe both. I have heard people say working the Ports really sucks so I'm not sure if that applies to them all or just a few bad ones. I do have a TWIC but I haven't used it. The ports would be close to me which is good, but I'm not sure if they're cramped or security might be a hassle getting in and out.

As long as you can get either of those in and not go over your 70 hrs, including time for a reset, I'd say go for it.

Ports do suck and I wouldn’t do it for three times what I make currently. But, others like it fine. Like anything else, my trash is your treasure and vice versa...

The thing about KC is they close plants with the drop of a hat even tho Fayard has time left on there contracts , Fayard will get cashed out you will be on the street like i was.
To many rules at KC with cameras at every turn , id run the wheels off the OT hopefully you are paid a decent wage with time and a half after 40.
KC just announced they are closing there home office here in Neenah after 100 years.VIDEODROME Thanks this. -
This facility in Mobile produces Scott Toilet Paper and had a bizarrely successful 2020 from the panic buying. Admittedly, that may have no bearing on the contract with Fayard so that's still a good point.
Maybe this is another reason to get back in a road truck even if not full time. If the contract goes either I become a road driver full time for Fayard or move on with recent road experience.Last edited: Apr 22, 2021

Just did this a little bit and so far it's just been local shuttle from KC in Mobile to Theodore.
My base schedule of 3 on 3 off then 4 on 4 off gives me some flexibility to work one of those off days in the Day Cab if they have some work. It's not to bad, just has some annoying paperwork.
