But your post reminded me of factory and custom paint I seen as a kid (born 65) in the 70’s

Yep. Funny you should mention Mavericks. My mom had a harvest gold ‘71 2 door with the “gold” interior. (More like dirty yellow.) We were living in Midland Tx and I was 2 or 3 yrs old when a car ran a stop sign and t-boned us putting it in a junk yard. There are only a handful of old family pictures of it somewhere in her albums.

 

@mjd4277. Imagine living your middle and high school years riding around in a Mint Green and wood paneled with Dark Green interior 1973 LTD Country Squire Station wagon. My dad had it for his oilfield mud logging business. 400 modified with a mild cam, built C6 with shift kit and 3.00:1 9” posi. Had 6ply all terrain tires on it to handle all the rig roads he drove down. Lol!

It was an indestructible beast. 350,000 miles the 20 years he had it. The only thing that killed it was almost complete floor board rust out. The original green enamel paint still had a pretty nice shine to it when it went to the junk yard.
We pulled the engine and trans and gave it to a neighbor to put in his ‘78 F100 4wd. And the 9” is still in one of my storage trailers to be used in something I still haven’t found yet.
