Way back when the Ambassador Bridge shares were publicly traded, Matty gradually bought 25% of the bridge. Then, Matty bought another 25% of the bridge from Warren Buffett and took control. In recent years, Matty spent $$$ fighting the proposed Gordie Howe Bridge. Supposedly, he was a bulldog in business but a puppy dog on a personal level. I got this info from a New York Times obituary.

My former co-worker tells me about a driver who worked for Matty for 18 years. He saw Matty two times, and Matty fired him both times. He asked his dispatcher, "What shall I do? I just got fired." The dispatcher said, "Just go home and come back tomorrow. Don't worry about it."

CT called me today and left a VM, 25min away from my place, was considering giving them a try since I'm a fresh grad. 70hr work week at 24.50 isn't that bad. They do OT or no? Having the weekends off is nice too. Are you on call? Or same hours daily?

take the job and get that experience in and move on after a year. I don’t think they pay OT.

I had an interview with them about 2 months ago

No over time until after 55 hours
    No direct deposit
3 weeks until first pay check
$0.50 raise every 6 months until what ever your local scale tops out at
    Really high insurance premium
Really crappy P&D trailers but newer International and Peterbilt trucks(my local terminal ,some of the trucks go into Blythe,California so they don't have a choice)
Hazmat not needed immediately but expected in a short time after hire

My terminal only pays $19.50 per hour so at 50-55 hours that's only $975-$1072 per week so I had to pass .

YRC Yellow/ reddaway pays over time after 8 hours per day and/or 40 hours per week at my local terminal

That must be a per terminal thing. I just got a bunch of cabinets delivered by them and was talking to the driver. At this terminal the line haul is the crappy trailers and the p&d are all less than 2 years old.

You are correct, I typed backwards . At my local terminal the linehaul trailers are braced together junk and P&D trailers are newer leased units which is crazy because our linehaul guys do Arizona , New Mexico and California ; probably the worst states when it comes to DOT/state police

    jmz and ZVar Thank this.

Not having direct deposit would be one reason for me to turn away.

Move on to a better LTL company when you get your one year experience.
