Well too much idle time gets to be expensive. I ordered my Inverter and accessories from Don Rowe and Amazon. Both had free shipping and the 1500 watt Cobra inverter was actually $53 cheaper at Amazon. All told I spent $191 for everything. Tomorrow I'll go get my fridge. I'll put it all together when I get back from my cruise. I'm not leaving to go back out until the 11th so I'll have a couple of days to get ready to go back trucking.

Yes, but that's when I go from California to Pittston then back home. After a reset in California I watch my hours very closely. I usually get home with about an hour left on my 70. If you are just running regional (east of the rockies), then you'll always get a reset back in PA. I have been told that if a driver runs out of hours an hour or two from the house then it was poor trip planning on the drivers side. I'm not sure if I believe that though.

These last 6 weeks of running back and forth from Pa to Fl I have left the house with a fresh 70 and have gotten home with at least 23 hours left on the clock. I don't see how that will be a problem for you.

My pleasure. Glad to help. One other thing, if you should be offered a run out to California, it's company policy for solo drivers to take a reset once we get empty out there. So the running out of hours thing won't be an issue. My problem has always been the extra 1250 miles to go home for me using the same 70 hours I started with in California. Then trip planning does become very important.

If anyone ever has problems with smokesmell in a truck they get assigned here is a good tip, take a bowl of straight vinegar or a cup whatever you have handy, let it sit in thetruck and it will absorb all the nicotine smell, also homedepot sells a cleaner (in a gallon jug) called odoban, it is concentrated and needs to be mixed, you can wipe stuff down spray the unwipable stuff, and then change the filter in the truck , spray those lightly before putting them in , gets rid of any unpleasant odors, my wife swore by it when she had her cleaning business.

Thanks, I'm going to try it. I still have smoke/nicotene smell in my truck, though not near as bad as it was 2 weeks ago when I moved into it.

I took out the shelving and doors off the closet that used to house the Volvo refrigerator. The opening dimensions now will fit my fridge perfectly.

Hello CALEX drivers!! First post on here, I am interested in CALEX, and today wrote a letter to recruiting, of my recent tales into the wonderful world of truck driving woes...I think it's woe # 11,000,000,00013. Two companies have told me in the same day, that because of the influx of drivers, specifically "EX"-Drivers",who have come back to trucking after leaving for one reason, or another, and go back on the road after a lapse of time, are causing a rise in accidents......( I think it CDL MILLS, throwing drivers out there by the thousands)but they seem to believe it is drivers who have stopped driving for a length of time, and come back on the road. SO........As recently as 8 months ago, insurance companies are telling the safety dept. not to hire drivers who have not had driving experience in the last year, at least six months in the last year.....no matter what the website, or job requirements say on the truck companies website. no matter if you have 20 years experience, and a perfect record, the policy is......six months in the last year. I was told to keep hammering away at different companies, as they all have not moved to that philosophy, so I might be screwed again, with getting hired on, again! Lately, here in CA. there are like 25 drivers at every CDL job, and these are not primo companies either! I went to one company that had 15 applicants apply for PART TIME DRIVING!! oh well....I hope I do not get the same story at CALEX, I even said I would be willing to ride with a trainer for a time to get in the door at least (humble) Well Johnboy, I envy you on that cruise you are going on, but you earned it......have fun with the Wife, and be ready to be treated like a KING AND QUEEN!! Those cruises are a hidden treasure for relaxation, ( I have been on 10 myself)be ready to gain 20 pounds!! Those cruises are worth every penny, they really treat you great! OH WELL Bon Voyage!!
