I'm looking around right now as we speak. Highway transport offers $0.55 a mile plus other types of bonuses and whatnot. The problem with them is they want you out a minimum 2 weeks and their governor is at 65.
Yes, there's lots of competition out there no reason why Dana isn't being competitive here I believe they're doing it solely because of the terminal location they're basing their pay off of cost of living.

They probably had some experience with that terminal in Grafton MA. Had to get a tank washed there once. What a miserable bunch of people.

I think it's strange that the one part of our industry that is very serious about safety and dealing with chemicals doesn't pay that great. This is very disappointing. I guess you have to be an independent contractor in the tank and industry to make a good living? It makes me sick that a dock bumper makes more money than me

I think you are just in a bad spot. I do food grade in a company truck and made way more this past year than I even did doing dry van and reefer.

I didn't work very hard but even so I never made less than 60k running for Dana. If I had wanted to run the system I could have made a whole lot more, but I stayed within a days drive of home and had many weeks where I was home every day. The thing with running local/regional in chemical tank at a smaller terminal is that the workload is dependent on fewer customers. A plant goes down for a week for something and all the drivers feel it.

Please don't take this personal, because it's not, but I suggest the following to you:

A job is like a trade, its this for that. You are selling to the employer what they need for a price. It's not a everyone who walks in the door gets the same money thing, it's not a union job where seniority or a prevailing wage exists. It's a negotiation. You got something they want, they got something you want. Based on the fact that you never asked, much less negotiated your pay, it sounds like gave you the minimum. In the future to increase your pay, you need to negotiate your pay. They are a business, labor is an expense, if there is no negotiation or someone doesn't even ask how much the position pays, they are gonna likely get the minimum. As a general rule one should approach a potential employer with that attitude. If they didn't need you, you wouldn't be interviewing with them. I hope this helps.

I just had mine done up there. My experience was different. They were friendly & cleaned the tank very quickly. :D:D

How do they have any drivers at 42 cents per mile? That is bad low.

Thought it was 50 cents or 24% for company drivers.

Good question. I have no idea. I worked for Schneider almost 3 years ago with better pay than what these guys are offering. It's pretty embarrassing. I just can't believe I quit a good company for this dumb shlt
