Data Link Error

    International HX 615, data link error appears on dash when started. the transmission (allison) shows xx on screen instaed of NN. ECM replaced, Body controller updated and TCM checked. Dash Cluster is recommended to be replaced any ideas out there welcomed

    Anybody actually test the datalink wires to the nodes and check the terminating resistors before throwing parts at it?

    not sure about resistors, under warranty except dash cluster

    Drove truck stopped for fuel left engine running, shortly afterwards warning beeps start and cat eyes on allison trans controller. Dash lights on for ABS, trans, data error, eng, wrench inside triangle. The air tank pressure and fuel are the only guages that operate properly. Shut off eng. and resart several times get in gear. Drive short distance and while driving 10 warning beeps sound all warning lights come back on.

    Datalinks are very hard to troubleshoot. Could be wiring, could be corrupted modules. 80% of the time, it is wiring, but the problem has to be active to properly trouble. When it happens, you can try to pull breakers for electronic modules one by one to see if the problem stops. If the problem fixes itself after a simple key cycle, it is likely a corruption problem from a module. First thing to disconnect is any e-logs or satellite systems.
