Well after all this time of submitting apps to KBR for my husband, he finally got a call back today. He really wants something to come of it. I can't say that I am very excited. I don't know if they talked to him about driving or cooking, I applied for both. I would much rather have him be a cook if he is going to go over there.

cooks make good money if he is involved in running the DFAC. They got immediate private quarters and normally a vehicle to drive a hundred yards at a time. lol Most handled ordering and overseeing the 3rd country nationals that actually did the cooking. At 1st we had a lot from India. Nice guys but thought every thing needed a big shot of curry. Later they hired a bunch from Sierra Leon. Nice as well but dumb as dirt and no manners. One time guy was cleaning table and was reaching across us with nasty wet dripping rag over our food. Just didn't know any better. We had talk with manager and he started having 1 hour classes w/ them till they got a little couth.

No such luck. I guess the guy is interested in him for driving. Didn't hear which country. My husband is all excited.

BigDuker u aint lyin bout the vehicles lol...It seemed like everywhere I went everyone who worked in the offices had their own yukon lol..Except TTM at bucca and delta...We had to drive our wreckers everywhere lol..The van that they finally gave us at delta went in the shop and stayed there...Those TCN's sure can ruin your lunch or dinner lol..And then there were the tcn drivers...Waitin in line at the convoy cafe at anaconda sucked on a hot july day with 40 of those guys around you...I am sure your husband will be ok if he goes..Unless you applied strictly for convoy driver, its an on base job..And even then convoy drivers can be tasked out to do on base jobs..I am sure either way he will be fine..Keep us posted...

I remember the 1st time we went through Scania. I thought it was the world's biggest truck stop. hadjis under and on top of every rig and cooking with fuel running out of their tanks. Out HCNs could tell you who was from where by the way they dressed or talked. Must have been 3 miles of trucks waiting to get ok to go to Baghdad or other places up N.
At Echo they gave them all brand new Ford Explorers . Some of them let them run all day so that they would be cool for them to drive across road to DFAC. The head safety guy was the worst. He would go around griping at any of us that idled for 30 seconds. One day I got into his running SUV and took keys. He looked like he was going to cry. Finally told him to lighten up on my guys and I would give him back his keys and not tell project manager. lol He was ok after that.

Yeah lol...Scania was where we got the little 2 seat cargo van from..The recovery office there had 4 vehicles for 7 people..We had 6 guys and all we had for transportation was our wreckers.I remember when I was there with the militay and I wondered how they could afford all those brand new pick ups and suv's lol..Those tcn drivers are nasty..I do kinda feel bad for them cause they pretty much live out of the trucks though. They are the worst drivers ever..We had to get a truck one night that ran off the romanian bridge by cedar..But of all the wrecks we responded to that involved those guys,I had yet to see one of thier little propane/gas stoves blow up???We would find them by the wreckage or still in the truck an it always seemed to amaze me lol..
