So, I'm back home now and without a CDL. I do at least have my Permit but man....

It took me a while to begin training because PAM dropped me. No problem, USA Truck picked me up. I started class on the June 16th. Everything was great for the first week. Not counting that everyone requested the classroom to be kept at #### near freezing everyday and I only pack for SUMMER in ARKANSAS. Therefore, I ended up getting sick and going to the local hospital. Now before that, I still hadn't received my medical card because of a prescription my doctor had to stop prescribing me. Before going into the hospital, I alerted everyone of the situation and expected them to have it resolved when I got out. Instead, I get out and still don't have a medical card therefore causing me to be DQ'd. So, YAY ME!!! I'm home again without a license through really no fault of my own.

No, that's my attempt at sarcasm. You don't really think I'm happy to be home so soon, do you? I'm ready to be back on the road and I'm tired of the holdups that only I can seem to run into.

I have decided to pursue it on my own from here out. I already have my permit. I've studied my pre-trip, paid for my own medical card, and will be setting an appointment to test for my CDL later today. If I were to go through the trouble of going back through Driver Solutions, I'd still have two weeks of not being paid to go through plus the however long it would have taken me to begin orientation. I was dropped from PAM beforeever leaving (that's why it took so long for me to begin training) but was picked up by USA. With my current decision, I'm no longer bound by a contract and can sign on with any company I choose to. Being dq'd actually worked out better for me although it did cost me a bit more money. At least now I have the freedom to choose where I end up. At first I really wanted to be OTR again and travel the country but after being away from my fiance and kids while at C1 and seeing how much they missed me, I have decided to look for something either local or that will at least get me home every other night. My kids are struggling in school so I need to be home for them. I can't ensure that they're getting what they need from 500 miles away.

If any of you know any places here in Mississippi that I should look at after getting my CDL, please let me know. Right now, I know that Waste Pro in Jackson may have a job for me as the owner's wife was the Coke rep at my previous job. But I'd really not like to be a trash man, even if it is 40k starting out and home nightly. There's got to be something that puts me in a semi going state to state. If you all know of any places, let me know. I'm looking for about the same salary tho.

BTW, I found out why I was dq'd. I have Sickle Cell and my medication for it is an opiate. The physician who conducted the physicals at C1 did not want to give me a medical card until he had a written note from my doctor stating that she would no longer prescribe me the meds. He did not receive the note from doctor in time and thus dq'd me.

When I found this out, I was concerned about the same outcome here at home a little but come to find out, my med isn't on the "banned" list. I was dq'd from C1 for absolutely NOTHING! LOL. I think it worked out for the best though. I can get the ball rolling a lot faster here at home. And with so many local trucker friends, I have no problem finding a truck to test out with. Gotta learn to drive a truck with more than 10 gears though but I'm told there's nothing to it.
