Lots of intermodal are M-F. All depends on how far the run is because most are loaded one way empty the other. Also don't expect much more than 6mpg as the old chassis don't pull the greatest.

Your selection of run for the day could be 220-520 round trip.

If things are consistent 1600-2300 is about it. But when it gets slow expect 1200 or less.

Ouch...maybe it's this market. 1200 miles equates to a company driver pay which would suck. I did my fuel calculations at 6 mpg which is awesome compared to hauling cars...4 mpg is normal. A lot of the runs here are 425-450 round trip because KC is central to so many major points in all directions. I would think it would be easy to get 4-5 of the 400+ runs a week and 2-3 of the short hauls like KC to Topeka. One of the companies I'm considering is promising $2500-2700/wk after fuel usually loaded both ways. Of course, it's percentage of the load not per mile. I have no interest in per mile and really don't want to work for a mega carrier. Hope I'm not being lied too. The numbers look good on paper.

Percentage can be as low as 1.11 a mile and as high as 2.3. Every container pays different depending if it's the steamship lines rate or your company's rate. Also depends if it's a door move or not. So that's why some places pay 1.4 a mile over percentage.

This is my first year pulling cans, it really does not seem like the "busy" season has hit all year....On a worrysome note, I went shopping with the wife to some high end outlets here in Chicago, every store was 50 to 70% off....and this is two weeks before Thanksgiving....does not bode well for Christmas busy season....

At the same time, I can't complain as my company has kept me running avg $2500 a week after fuel....

Been slow for me too. The work is there but I am doing a lot more deadheading from Chicago to the shipper (vs grabbing a load out of Chicago) and waiting for the box to be pulled off the train. I've heard the economy is up in 2015 but I haven't seen it and the rail lots are looking sparse at times.

Ehhh I'm not working more than 8 hours a day and still bringing 1500 to 2k a week after fuel and tolls I'm ok with it but don't expect me to bust my rear unless I had a bad week the previous week... So far this week I have done 10 loads at the end of today if I finish the week with 15 I will call it a decent week 1800 to 2200(take home for running less than 1k miles) for this week and I can relax and get me a six pack of sam adams.

so I just got my settlement for last week it was awful 1300 dollars while working 4 days(had to play g.i joe Friday and the weekend) and driving a whopping 207 miles (I drove more miles today than last week).... 200/5(mpg)=4x2.10(price of fuel In nj)=86.94 dollars in diesel plus another 14 dollars for unpaid bobtail. 200 dollars in tolls for a adjusted income of 1k. yup it was way below the standard of where I need to be

I run LTL and its been kind of up and down for about 6mns now. But yet just about every trucking company in hiring some are offering sign on bonus. And most places I go to are also hiring.
