Get a cobra 29 anything, even a 23 channel and put the rest of the money into the antenna system.

Judging from your post your knowledge of CB radio is a bit lacking, no disrespect intended! In order to get the most out of a high powered expensive BIG radio you have to pay incredible attention to the installation of your radio system.
First things first.............Like @Ridgeline said, get your antenna "right and tight" or you'll be wasting your money, and maybe your radio! Accomplishing this on today's trucks can truly be a pain in the keister!
Second.........I see you're thinking about one of the Ranger's with the onboard amplifier.........Hooking power up to one of those is another big task. Direct battery hook up is a must and is not always easy! IMHO I would stay away from recently made Rangers because quality isn't what it used to be. They probably should include a fire extinguisher with the radios.
Believe me there are some of us that have $700 or more tied up in our installations, not including the radio, and are still working to get them better! If you want big power and a big radio it's gonna cost $ and time.
It's not like years ago when you could slap an antenna on the mirror arms, run your coax and have a reasonable chance at your antenna being right! Trucks were built different back then(all steel)! Getting a decent RF ground in today's trucks is usually a challenge. Scour different radio forums and Youtube to see what others have done. One member on here,@craig_sez, has a couple of good YouTube videos on New Cascadias.

I'm currently running a General HP 40W. $475.00 for the radio and it has a built in power amp. It's not the most powerful and expensive thing out there but it works pretty good and will leave you with a little change leftover to spend on some decent quality antennas.
