With our brokerage it’s not greed. It’s what the customer is willing to pay and what others are quoting. Yeah, shockingly we are trying to cover our advertising expenses and make a small profit. We have been running our own trucks for 31 years so we know what it costs to run a truck. We quote a potential customer a fair price so the carrier can make an honest profit (what we would put it on one of our trucks for) and tack on an average of $100 (Advertising is not cheap). A lot of times I hear “your quote is too high”. They get quotes for 25% less. That takes all the profit out of it for both my brokerage and the carrier. So who is out there moving vehicles for less than I can even do the job for on my own truck. I can sit on the coach and lose money, why start my truck up to do it, why list something that I can’t even cover my costs on.
