Hey,
can anyone tell me if it's a DOT violation to not log in your load information on your Qualcomm once your dispatched on a new load. The reason I ask is because it has become an issue for the new company I drive for and it wasn't even mentioned at my old company...it's a pain in the neck because it seems redundant...on the inspections I've had the DOT officer never looked for this information on my Qualcomm...thanks for your help.

If it's the company policy just comply...no need to have issues over something so trivial. I am aware this doesn't answer your question.
pattyj and BrenYoda883 Thank this. -
Supposed to supply some sort of reference number such as B/L number as well as begin/end dates into a qualcomm system to replace the b/l manifest# section found on paper. I expect this to requirement to be removed in the near future, but for now ... A few carriers's system will put the reference number into the system for you if it's known and if somebody takes the time to do this when they send you the load.

We've had guys get violations for this. Make sure you list BOL number and product you are hauling.

On paper, it's easy to catch by law enforcement (missing entries)
On eLogs, it's easy to forget because it's done on another screen, so it's easy money for law enforcement if they really feel like writing you up.BrenYoda883 and 8thnote Thank this. -
I do it, but I sometimes have to catch up because I am lax about entering the info right away.

Yes it's a dot requirement to log info in the load section as well a requirement on the paper logs too. So be cool and just do it. I was in the same boat prior company didn't care but new company's made a big deal about it
