I pull a 48 ft transcraft flatbed with a Moffett forklift. Its just about 2 years old and i am looking at replacing the tires soon.
I have 2 newer tires on the front axle that are a little better than the rest (the other 6 are original) so i may leave them on and get 2 used tires to match them for one axle, then get 4 virgins for the other axle.
which axle should get the virgins? Does it matter? Given that i have 8000 lbs hanging off my bumper all the time, I am assuming the back axle usually carries more weight.

Is the fact the back axle carries more weight based off a scale?
Kyle G. Thanks this. -
Maybe I am wrong? -

Equalizers between springs and air pressure between bags normally keep axle weights fairly close. Where you put which tires probably does not matter much. More of a personnel preference.
Search spread axle tire scrub and such. There were a lot of good posts on trailer tires at different times.Kyle G. Thanks this.
