I am in need of a quick answer if you can - I have a job offered in Colorado the morning where they want to load a 42 foot step deck trailer on my 48 flat. The only issue I see is that my trailer is 96 wide and the trailer I am loading is 102. Is that going to be considered an oversize or wide load required signage, etc .. . ?

I carry 2 outrigger boards 6 ft. long, and 2 boards that are 12 ft. long. I use the short ones on the front end of the trailer. I place the longer boards so that they will be completely covered by the tracks when the machine is in position on the trailer.

Once the machine is loaded, I take up the six foot boards and tie them down behind the machine on the deck, and fold up the outriggers on the front of the trailer.

The short boards keep the tracks from slipping as the machine is loaded. On our bigger excavators, PC300's, the track bushings are worn enough that the tracks sag over the frame rails, causing slippage as the machine is loaded. The short boards and the outriggers stop the slipping.
