Is it legal to get an overweight ticket on axles after a crash ? I recieved a ticket for being overweight on my drive axles and i was hauling rock so theres no telling of the load shifted at the time of the crash . Has this happened to any of yall?

Why would it not be legal? Your correct that it may have shifted, but unless you have proof you were legal like a scale ticket there is no way to know. Also, did you pull it after the wreck? Even a short distance? If so the citation may be for that and not before the wreck.

Of course that also depends on how bad the wreck was and how hard a breaking occurred before hand. If it was a 5mph fender bender in a parking lot it's unlikely to move. If you rolled over a couple times, yea an over weight citation would be hard on the officer to justify.

Yeah, they like to pile on stuff when someone messed up...
    :)
If funny how "crashed into" and "crashed into" can have two separate meanings not to mention a "crash".

And when was the last time it was calibrated by a certified tech? I'm talking legal here, which requires proof. Maybe it was, maybe it wasn't. But without proof there is no way to know (legally).

Rocks are pretty heavy, and I would not think they would shift that much after a minor crash.
Minor, because anything very serious would leave the truck as a pile of rubble.

I would love to see a scale ticket picture of the pre-crash load.

If he rolled over a couple times he would not still be driving.

The rocks may be heavy but they will kill you in a hard break just like anything will if its on a flatbed. I guess it depends what type of rock to. I assumed hes talking about a dump truck and a load of gravel

I guess he wasn't all that worried about it. He hasn't been back.
