The extenuating circumstances are a mile long, mostly to do with being threatened with my job if I didn't run illegal, FMs getting pissed that you are sitting for a week trying to get the air leak in your truck repaired, etc...

Well I dealt with a lot of stupid stuff from PAM but never ran into heavy handed threats of being fired.

C1 is a weird experience but I'm willing to say some of the road instructors were helpful. Particularly Oscar.

The place can be frustrating though because of all the down time and frustrated students trying to get time in the range trucks. After a while they see people failing and it's upsetting to think of being on the hook for tuition with no CDL if you get sent home.

But if anyone is very confident about their background and driving skills C1 is a reasonable route to get a job. For example one student was experienced as a Yard Switcher and he went through the range like it was nothing.

There was all kinds of B.S. at USA that I was ordered to do that was illegal and if I didn't I would be fired. One time I was given a load from Indy to North Texas of what was listed as rosin. I don't have hazmat endorsement on my CDL so I sent message on QC saying "pls confirm ld id not hazmat". Got the message back "Ld is not hazmat, pull the ld". So after grumbling a little to my passenger/fiance I got loaded up and went in back to make sure the load was secure. I was greeted by 7 large plastic containers of some sort of dark liquid inside and covered with several Hazmat Placards...

So... I send another message asking "If load is not hazmat then what is with all the placards?" I was told that if the hazmat was under 1000 lbs then I didn't need the endorsement... which would have been the case if I wasn't hauling 32,000 lbs of the stuff!!!

After a few calls to safety and having my job threatened (AGAIN) I finally said "to hell with it" and pulled the load. I was sweating bullets going through the Joplin scales though... lol

As far as C1, I couldn't agree with you more on how chaotic that experience was. I was lucky and passed with no problems but I know that there were a few guys ahead of me that were still having trouble trying to pass the test for about the sixth time. Looking back on the experience my major b**** wasn't with C1 but the resulting company I was placed with.

2500 miles per month, times 17 cents, times 52 weeks (no down time) comes out to $22,100 per year, a little more than half what they advertise. $22,100 is $425 a week, and they take $65 off the top before taxes or expenses... and there is a potential liability for $6,000 in training costs... Do I understand the other posts correctly?

Been there done that. Keep a close eye on your pay. I left mainly because I caught them stealing from me, and no one wanted to assume they were responsible. Up to and including the veep. They run the new folks to death and spit them out. Gotta keep up the turnover to get those gov't grants for hiring students and all. C1 and PAM are in the same bed. C1 ? joke of the highest caliber. I just went through that farce because a lot of companies require some sort of "school" these days. I already knew how to drive so even on the "driving range", I sat. lol, don't make a perfect parallel on your first attempt, even in the junk trucks they use. 7k scam study group of a manual you can get for free from the BMV.

You did file a complaint with the state and federal labor board, correct?
