There are times when the government helps. Regulating interstate commerce is actually one of the legitimate uses of government power in the US.

. You mean like telling a farmer he cannot grow wheat for his own consumption on his own land?

If a farmer is growing wheat on his own land for his own use, it is not interstate commerce.

. You would think that BUT you would be wrong the guberment has used the interstate commerce clause when it chooses to interfere with people’s lives. Lots of mistrust of government is healthy.

Well, earned some more steak money last night at my Boise delivery, although it wasn't as bad as Google Maps reviewers have had recently. I had a really mixed load with a lot of breakdown and sorting. 5.5 hrs, but... thankfully I don't have to pay for the lumper, $335.. and I even got to use the PC in order to move to a safe parking spot to finish my break. My load from Twin Falls to McDonough was actually preloaded BEFORE I got there this time, and thankfully it's got some weight to it because it is friggin windy up here in Da-ho. And I got one of those old ad trailers...I am one of their most valuable resources...and I have it in writing

Of course, we're not valuable enough for APU's or all air-ride trailers (these old things done even have the auto-inflate system for the tandems)

Was it Winco foods that you delivered to in Boise? They always seem to have a high lumper fee.

Yep. Given their reputation for being slow, and my 2 pages of products to sort...5.5 hrs wasn't too bad

    BoostedTeg Thanks this.

Thanks to the government (DOT)I work half as many
Hours then I did when I started.
And make twice as much money.
No goofball drivers complaining on the CB
    Never accomplished anything.

Every Big nationwide shutdown, 50 trucks show
Up and get towed away. They look like a bunch of fools.
You keep depending on that to get
Better treatment from these companies. I'll pass.

This myth of how great it was with paper logs
And no enforcement of regulations, was just that,
    A myth.
It was 100 hour weeks and slave wages.
Drivers slept leaning over on the steering wheel,
To tired to turn around and take one step back into the bunk.

Your dam right I love the DOT.
And I tell then that anytime I'm in a scale house.
Thanks to them I actually get sleep now,
And a few extra hours of relax time every day.

Every time they tighten regulations and shorten
Our driving hours, the companies panic,
They give us a raise so we don't quit, and we work
    Less hours.
And I'm supposed to hate them for that. Not.

I recommend they cut us back to 60 hours a week.
    In the name of safety.
Then somebody will give us .75/80 cpm.
We'd get another raise and work less.
    Sounds good to me.

I agree that lots of mistrust of the government is a good thing. Even the guys who designed our government didn't trust it.
