    Are you national?

    Here's a pro-tip for Roehl:

Your first full quarter you want to stay out can build your scorecard so you can get switched to premium mileage plan. Cruise with the TMC men, don't hit anything, get your passport, hazmat, and TWIC on file for the bonus points, etc.

They start you out at what $0.43 a mile? With a level 7 on your scorecard, you'll receive a $0.01 bonus for the quarter, making your pay $0.44 a mile. Or at level 7 you can switch to premium mileage and make $0.50 a mile but no bonus starting out. You must be level 7 or higher to switch to premium mileage. The reason I say to get this rank your first quarter is because it can only go up one level each quarter. So if you get level 5 your first full quarter and level 10 the second, you'll only get promoted to level 6.

It's an easy way to get a quick raise. They won't tell you about it. You just have to read the DRG to understand and when you get that first full quarterly report, you have to send them a message on the PC requesting the switch, and calling them, and messaging them. They will tell drivers they can't switch to premium mileage after their first quarter, or within their first year, or any other excuse I haven't heard, but it doesn't state that anywhere in the DRG and you have to tell them they're wrong.

It's not a bad company though. They just pay worse than Swift, have terrible planning and communication, and will do anything to dock your scorecard so you don't get a bonus or raise. I got my score hit once because I didn't come to a complete stop at a stop sign inside a Lowe's DC they have at the end of each row of trailers. But every other company that will hire you before you get your year experience in is going to be no better than Roehl, so there's no reason to quit unless you just don't like the job of trucking in general.

Also the Gary maintenance is terrible. Long wait times, they steal stuff out of your truck, and its one of their worse terminals in my opinion. The trainer I had though when I took flatbed securement was cool though. Short young looking guy can't remember his name.

Another edit: They will tell you in the workflow that it's a full tarp no matter what is is. I always ask the shipper of it's a tarp, or look at the BOL. If it's not I don't tarp. Everybody says Roehl makes you tarp every load but that's just because they don't do their own due diligence. If you want the tarp pay or practice then sure do it, but I always asked.

Also in about 6 months apply for the specialized fleet. I believe it's some lady out west that's the FM but Dave that I had was the most helpful, transparent, and down to earth FM I ever had there. I was with him for 8 weeks before leaving but I learned more in that 8 weeks from him than I did during the previous 8 months I had there.

Hi Lampa. Are meals included? And did you get an answer to my question about the requirements yet?

Microwave at hotel as well as a fridge.
Multiple microwaves at school. On site grill inside the drivers lounge with cheap meals. We could grab did dinner if we wanted. We went to groceries store and got stuff for the hotel fridge. And the hotel is starting real breakfast again tomorrow. No more grab a bag thing. Eggs and sausage!!

    That's a good deal.
The reason I asked is because some student drivers are having a tough time financially, so I recommend to them to stock up on cheap stuff to microwave.
Can by those items cheap at Dollar Store and Walmart.
Oatmeal, bennie-weenies, instant coffee, and on and on.

    Day 4
Drove around similar to the upcoming test route. Couple of really interesting turns.
Back to the yard after lunch for backing.
Straight back, right offset and right parallel. Great tips from the instructor. Amazing how much a trailer will move from minimal steering input!
I've got nothing bad to say from this experience so far.
A couple guys are dragging ###. Starting the head Bob while in the back of the truck!

    Chinatown Thanks this.
