Tanker driver dies

Wow . Yep that area of the highway has some tight turns that come up on u really quick plus a short little downhill section... there really is no warning either. It has taken me by surprise more than once ... RIP driver

 

That explains the detour the other night.

 

Hazmat tankers get paid a premium for a reason.
I've explained the difference this way.
Other trucks overturn and it makes local news, a tanker overturns and it'll make national.
At 34yo he was probably a family man. I hope his family survives their loss. RIP

Nothing fun about having a curve sneak up on you hauling smooth bores, though this fuel tanker was not ,their still terribly top heavy.

Yep.If i remeber correctly . It is 45 mph thru that area he crashed , if im thinking of the same place. The problem is right before it is 6% downgrade with not much warning beforehand, then it throws the 45mph curves at u all at once. If ur not paying full attention it will take u by surprise.

 

A little further down from that section with the grade, but you’re right about the speed. I drove by the scene today. He actually made it through the sharpest curve. Lots of guys bite it on the one just before where he did.

It’s really unfortunate. Cell service sucks there; if you can even get it at all.
