You know I took some time to answer this because I like to be agreeable. But i just can't agree with this. In my experience , rarely have I seen a Truck Driver do anything close to what I see 4 wheelers doing all the time , as a way of driving , they do stupid crazy things not just to you ( that is where i do see it most) but to me and anyone else that is on the road. It is a way of driving for them. Most of the 4 wheelers around you are ignorant of what they are doing. They are the ones that will once they are educated drive more safe around you. But there are so many 4 wheelers that just have a dangerous style of driving that to me makes me think they just do not care and no amount of any kind of education is going to help them.
Now I have not seen that dangerous kind of style coming from a Professional Driver. first of all if you didn't care and that was your style of driving , if anyone would hire you you would not be a Driver long.
Also i have witnessed Drivers that go over and above any call of duty to save someone from an accident .
A professional driver saved my life once that I know of and I am certain there have been times i was not even aware of it.
It was a super dark night and I was driving in the slow lane on a flat straight stretch of hiway. I was doing the speed limit 65 in Oregon. I was probably going a little faster because I had just passed three Big Trucks, when I noticed in my rear view mirror and side mirror the first truck i had passed was hauling ### in the fast lane so I slowed down and he surprised me when he got right in front of me , i just slowed down I instinctively knew something was wrong , that he was not playing around , I stayed behind for a few miles going his limit. Ok , when I didn't think there was a danger and there were no accidents ahead or anyone broke down on the highway , I thought well maybe he just wanted to be ahead of the other trucks , so i got in the fast lane and passed him , once i got past him , i saw why he had got in front of me , there was an old matte black beat-up pick-up without any lights or reflectors at all it was hard to see even with me being close to him. I knew that Driver saw what I did not and if he had not gotten in between me and that pick-up, I would have plowed right into that old black pickup truck, That Driver saved my life I know he did , and I am so grateful for that. He didn't have to do it. but he put himself in danger to save me, and I hope he is alive and well and happy wherever he is , I hope you all are because to me you are all that man who saved my life that dark night. You know what people are paying attention to , you know at any given point if there is a problem driver in a group of drivers , you can probably tell without seeing them ,just by how and what they are driving weather they are male or female and age i bet !
You yourselves take your instincts about the road and 4 wheelers ,for granted I think , you know things that me or anyone else could never know about someone by the way they are driving. I know this because of the countless times you have "read" me and others and you will make a move in a way that is good for everyone .That is something even more than Professional, That is being intuitive and you go with your gut . I for one do not feel safe if i cannot see a truck on the road because I know for a fact you have an extra sense that nobody else does or could have.
So yes I have to disagree, I do not think there are many terrible drivers , at any given point and time . I know there are bad drivers and that I have been very fortunate that you have been Angels to me . You are my Heros and Sheros. And I love and appreciate ALL you do from the bottom of my heart. Thank You.Last edited: Feb 2, 2021
