thinking of coming back to swift to get some flatbed experience i was a dry van/reefer mentor for 2 years until i quit last feb.
im living in myrtle beach, sc now and none of the flatbed companies will hire me because i dont have tarping experience
i did however run flats in the military we just never tarped anything
not sure what im going to do yet but swift is definitally an option so im looking for a good flatbed mentor around my area or at least out of the greer terminal would most likely be 50-100 hours with mentor
oh yeah and im a smoker

This company may hire you. They also recognize military driving & are actively recruiting military veterans.

i applied at cypress i was just thinking of going to swift cause they always treated me good i started at $.40 per mile and within 4 months had a brand new Cascadia really wishing i would have went flatbed when i was there the ultimate goal is to get into gypsum express when they open the terminal in georgetown just need to get some tarping experience. Yarbrough Transfer also offered me a job and they have a terminal in willmington but i would have to go to winston-salem terminal for oreintation/training on my dime and im broke.

Cypress may be able to help you. Down here in Florida they will train you so I assume they will up there as well.

Other than Cypress have you tried Maverick Transport? They may be closer to you than Cypress

Bad news is, maverick will not hire from SC unless you have exp. As far as swift goes, I'm sure you'd have to do the hiring process all over again in Greer. Then do phase 1. If I h
eard right van drivers will have to go with mentor for 120 hours. As for military, unless you had cdl, it does not count. Just call up to Greer and ask for joey fowler, he is the main recruiter there and let him know you want flatbed.

As for a mentor, expect to wait.
Stay safe and keep rubber side down.

Then if that's the case, them you may not have to ride with mentor at all for flatbed. If your military exp counts with flatbed, you may just goto Greer for phase 1, then get sent to Gary for phase 2.

Either way, won't know unfilled you talk to swift, if that is still your choice.
But good luck where ever you go.
