Transfer / exchange commercial truck drivers license to the States

    [ I cross posted this in the Canadian forum ( because I'm in Canada) but then realized it would be better to post the question in a forum with US drivers. ]

    So here is my question.


    I was researching how to transfer my AZ license to the States and almost gave up due to the mountain of bureaucracy but lo-and-behold Florida accepts Canadian commercial truck licenses but you have to surrender it in exchange for a Florida one.

    I called them to confirm the info on their website.

    Texas is the only other State I was able to find that "might" do this. I was unable to reach them on the phone.

    Has anyone done this or have first or second hand knowledge?

    By the way, I have dual citizenship. There is residency requirement.

    If Fl or Tx will do it, there are ways to establish residency. Both have no state income tax. Get a U.S. license from one of those and you can transfer to any state except Illinois or Cali without having to retest,

    Yep. Where there is a will there is a way. But if get a job in Florida why would I leave? lol
