Frames can be extended but sportchassis trucks are wayyyy overpriced for what you're getting.
I have a quote in hand for the truck I want from the dealer.

2022 Freightliner m2 106 Extended Cab with dot legal lift bunk with storage, b6.7 cummins, Allison 2500 RDS, 10k front axle, 21k rear axle, air suspension, 290 wheelbase, Dual 80 gallon fuel tanks, alluminum wheels and chrome package, custom paint, low profile tires and curb weight listed as 10,781 lbs out of the factory for $83,000.

It would be silly to buy a used sportchassis for over 100k and throw more money on it.

Got it, I have other reason I am asking. Broker was making suggestion of me getting what he called a farm truck with a flatbed on it to carry the freight he had. While I was watching this thread and seeing your idea unfold I started thinking about what he said. I could expand my capacity quickly.

Farm truck? Does that mean just a flatbed?

The simplest way to do it, is to use an already built setup from an existing car hauler trailer. You just need to get a prebuilt lift from a salvaged 8 or 9 car trailer. Then have it mated to the truck. Would be super simple for anyone competent to do and it's already built with the hyros and all.

All you need is one section from any trailer like this.. everything is already built, just have to have it mated to your own custom ramp deck.

    That's the hard part!

I'd rather let shipshe do it all new and have some sort of warranty

I think I found a truck already in stock out in IN. Has a bigger engine than I initially planned and will probably cost a few grand more. Not a deal breaker :D

Has the L9 330hp and an Allison 3000 rds , extended cab but no bunk or bench in the back, 310 wheel base. I think 310 is the longest wheelbase they come in. Planning on 38 ft long truck with 2 feet of pull out extensions and front full lift with a heavy duty winch.

Waiting on dealer to call me back Monday, already planned my route so I can pass there.

If all goes well my truck and trailer will be for sale by the end of next month.

I would get the L9 anyway. It’s a wet liner engine that can be inframed. That’s big for resale value...seen as less of a throwaway truck with a throwaway engine. Not so the B6.7. It would save a little weight but won’t have the go-power when loaded heavy. Around town it might do okay but out on the open road with hills and a stiff breeze coming at you it will struggle to keep up with traffic which isn’t fun. That truck I was driving had a 7.2 Cat C7 and it couldn’t maintain highway speed with a load on even with the transmission in direct once it got into any terrain that was less than perfectly calm and flat. It needed a C9.

How long of a lead time is Shipshe suggesting? I hear those places have been pretty backed up lately.

I didn't ask about lead time. The truck I was interested in was too heavy and won't be able to load 2 cars and stay under 26000 lbs with the shipshe bed.

Shipshe bed with front lift weighs 5200 lbs and truck will have a curb weight of around 14,000 lbs. L9+Allison 3000rds+ reinforced chassis adds too much weight. Need to find a b6.7 with the Allison 2500 and normal chassis for this to work.
