I am close to finishing a one year contract with my current company and am considering Con-way Truckload as my next company. I just had some questions. How many miles can I expect to run in a week? Are they good about getting drivers home? What is their fueling policy? Do they tell drivers where to fuel or can the driver decide from a network list? Any info is helpful and I'll definitely have more questions. Thanks

I really miss the Flying Js. But other than that I haven't had too much trouble with the new fuel list. It definitely requires more attention to detail when planning trips though.

They have a list to chose from but they don't tell you where you can stop along your route.

Basically it's EVERY pilot in the nation, some TA's out west here and there, and a few loves and there is a small chain up north you are also allowed to fuel at but I don't remember what the name is.

Any other fuel stops require calling dispatch and getting a comcheck to do it.

Miles, depends on your FM. I drove for them solo and the miles were worse than I could have ever imagined, like horror story low. Then I teamed up with a friend, moved to a new fleet, and ran 6500 plus a week making a killing with them.

They aren't a bad company and the equipment is nice, it just seems some fleet managers are complete failures as human beings and others are #### good at their jobs. Luck of the draw on which one you end up with because I had both types while I was there.

I believe you are allowed switch fleet managers with no questions asked.

What you "believe" and what is the truth sometimes vary when going form talking to a recruiter to talking to the company :).

There is a lot of praise to the point where it seems like the end all be all of companies. It's not bad, but it isn't THAT good.

What kind of transmissions do those KWs run? Is it a 10 or 13, manual or autoshift?

I know switching fleet managers is not a big deal, I'm just not sure on the specifics. The last I checked we were allowed to switch every 30 days.

Cjoe- There are a small percentage of autoshifts, but most of the fleet uses 13 speeds.
