In Defense of the OP.....
I can agree on some of these weigh stations with 40 year old style arrow lights..
On a Bright Sunny day..Its hard to make out some of these DIM arrow lights and lighted signs directing you where to go..

I consider it cheap insurance for the future. Think if I had that video and showed it to the officer, he never would have written a ticket in the first place. -
Right, that's why following too closely through coops is far more common than not. You must think we're blind and stupid.
Your measuring tape needs calibration, its inches are apparently reading closer to feet.
There isn't any doubt. If you can't see an overhead sign because the truck to your front is blocking your view of it, you're no more than 20 feet behind it. -
I found an local, young attorney who was starting out and said he specialized in traffic offenses (a dead giveaway he was a new attorney). Did I mention the attorney did this for FREE?
He spoke to the assistant D.A. and got me in a diversion course online that cost $130. The original ticket and court costs were going to be $178 so I already saved money. Just completed the course and the D.A. said he's asking the judge to dismiss the ticket. Now I have to submit a different appeal to have the CSA points removed.
