He was going way to fast. With all of the traffic slowing down on the right he should have backed out of it before he got to that point. Imo anyway.

WAY WAY too fast and WAY TOO slow in developing a battle plan when that traffic got squirrley around Mr Lawman in the middle.

Even I would find it very hard to find a way out, should have started coming off her when that batch started slowing past the slow curve.

    Bud A. Thanks this.

Dude managed to hit not only a car but pushed that car into a cop car which hit the guard rail.

They're gonna hammer this guy in court but I've watched this video repeatedly and I can't figure out exactly when he had any indication there was police activity in the left lane.

This is right by the Philly airport and traffic is slow by the exit ramp, that's normal. He's banned from the left most lane normally so that's about right. One car on his right is slowing down but another is speeding up, there's an oversize under escort but you don't see it until the end and I have to back up to pick it out from the beginning.

Now, this is me Monday morning quarterbacking a YouTube video on a cellphone, so the resolution is a lot worse than real life.

There's one fraction of a second where he could have gone into full panic brake mode, but since he changed lanes it's possible he was checking his mirror to get into the illegal lane. That's about the time the whole door closed for him. Nothing he could really do at that point.

Also, if you go right to the YouTube page, you can see all the commenters calling for this guy's execution. Don't post dashcam footage until after the court case.

"Once the brakes were locked up I was along for the ride." It was the brakes fault not mine.

Dash cams are supposed to be used in order to help us in the event another vehicle blames us for an accident or something.

This footage could surely put this guy at fault...... way too fast...

Another thing, I thought ABS meant the brakes DONT lock up. Assuming he has ABS.

A lot of times ABS systems fail.
    Especially on trailers.
You're not supposed to drive with your ABS offline. Catch it in a pretrip? Write it up and have the shop fix it. (That's what it says "in the book") the reality is the boss man says "drive that POS or get out of my truck and find another job." Somedays are between the two.

Maybe his ABS wasn't working? Maybe the automatic wouldn't downshift? Maybe he missed a shift? Maybe there was a noise abatement rule against jakes?

    Is what it is.
