TA13xxxxx are 2013 model trailers. So yes it’s possible they were put out in the beginning of 2013 but no later than that. TA14 are 2014 model trailers so on and so forth. Probably have TA20xxxx now but haven’t noticed.

Ta130xxx went into service at the end of 2009, ta131 were 2010, ta132 were 2011 and then the system got funky as in 2012 we started buying more than wabash trailers, so in 2012 we had ta133 and ta134 trailers introduced. Then we ramped up replacing old trailers and now the 'system' is shot.

Its how we are taking delivery of ta2xxxxx trailers in 2020. Had we stuck with the system where the first 3 numbers indicated the purchase year/manufacturer we would still be on ta17xxxx. Over the course of 5 years we took average age of the trailer fleet from 13 to 7. Thats a lot of new numbers.

    Opus and stevep1977 Thank this.

You were only otr for about 15 minutes before you started running dedicated accounts that were mainly closed loop. You used the same 100 or so trailers over and over, with only a few popping in from the general fleet.

The other reason is a majority of the ta13 series started on the west coast to help with CA compliance, then migrated to the midwest.

Stu took over the fuel role about 2012 and that is when we started ramping up trailer purchases because he empirically showed the fuel savings of side skirts and composite floors. Then Wabash couldn't fill all.of our demand and we started buying Hyundai, great dane, stougton, and about a dozen vangaurd POSs and the numbering system went to hell.

wasnt arguing the point. your elaboration goes a long way to explaining why I hadnt seen any, again to my recollection.

That explains why our Wabash trailers are all older. Whenever I stop by a terminal I see new Stoughton trailers being ferried in as 9-series Wabash's are being sold. Every blue moon I see a 19X or a 20X Great Dane but 99% of them are Stoughton
