Until these employers lose the “you oughtta be happy you have a job” mentality, nothing will change.

Back in the 90’s corporations were judged not only on their profitability, but also on how they treated members of their communities and employees. Executives sought out awards like the Malcom Balderidge National quality award with full corporate board support.
Now they all worship the magical quarterly profit result and achieving their goal is job number one - nothing gets in the way. To many trucking companies are becoming public or are being taken over by holding companies that know nothing about trucking and simply manage to a balance sheet, employees are interchangeable now and retention is only important if it hurts efficiency. In so many ways this thread is a sad statement on what corporate America has become...Dark_Majesty_06, Itsbrokeagain, Lonesome and 3 others Thank this. -
You expect a company to care about its employees.
Get real.
The world leaders don't care if a million people
Die from this new disease going around.
As long as the stock prices stay up,everything's good. -
O.k. I couldn't take it anymore...I HAD to get a truck wash. My black Mack was white from salt from my visit to NC and WV earlier. I was getting it on everything every time I got near the truck. So, a quick visit to the Walcott streakin beacon. Hope they don't charge extra for all the sludge deposits my truck will leave behind

The assignment said 42000ish lbs and 10, they wanted to load 47000 and 11. Maverick said ok and since I wasn't over total weight I went ahead and did it.
The slowest place I've been to is Corsicana though. They've improved the past year or so but in the past they've let drivers sit an entire day loading an 8am appt. at night time forcing you to either run all night or be late to deliver.Lonesome Thanks this. -
I wasn't impressed with Corsicana myself...and we have loaders there. But our 3 loaders were training when I was there, and they came from 3 different plants. 2 were Moore loaders, 1 was a Wylie loader, and Wylie does things different than we do, so they were confusing the crap out of the trainees. Needless to say, it was what the Canucks call a gong show...which is pretty much how everything is at Wylie. -
There was a box of freight in Spring Hill...so what do they give me, a transfer load to Church Hill...where there is NO freight all weekend. Put in for hometime for ASAP, and all but the very basic crap is going in my barn. Told my DM that I would rather haul reefer freight than pull this crap, even if I have to go to Creaffer and deal with Opti-idle and Ostergard again. Beats working for these jokes.
Itsbrokeagain and Lonesome Thank this. -
Your weekend load to Church Hill is what I did last weekend.
Since then I drove to Texas via Mississippi and since I must have been way ahead of everybody else on miles for the week I sat there in WF for 3 fooking days until I got a 900 mile weekend load today.
I've been considering bailing out for a couple months now but I'm thinking that with the coronavirus hysteria ramping up its not going to be a good time to start looking for a new job.Itsbrokeagain Thanks this. -
Not sure the DOT would approve of the location for the rear header board strap that the loaders selected...Lonesome, Itsbrokeagain and mitrucker Thank this. -
Just a quick update on the truck...the sensors they changed seemed to do the trick. Pulls like a freight train and boost stays where it should. And karma be ######...the little yellow engine shaped night light is still gone.
