Hello all, I have an opportunity to deliver beer, to be frank, I just want the schedule monday-thursday. I've delivered in food service with US-foods, so I know what it's like. But, is beer/liquor delivery worse than food service? I can't imagine two wheeling those heavy kegs around, but then again, I've two wheeled bags of potatoes around before, so beer kegs can't be that bad, can it? Im not a big fan of labor service like this anymore compared to when i was younger, but the monday-thursday schedule is so very tempting. Plus, the pay is very good. Any advice is appreciated, thank you.

Go with shuttle, then you just deliver trailers, no loading or unloading. And kegs can absolutely take out your back, in the blink of an eye.

    You don't want it.

Little nicky picking clinking cracking bottles or giant lumbering spine breaching kegs. If it leaks might as well have a sip. You will need it soon enough.

    Its a conundrum.

We used to get containers either tank containers 20 foot or 40 foot bottled loads from UK and Europe to Seagrams. Seagrams takes trailer drop bobtail back.

    Best of all worlds.

We had a tavern, Ive seen enough big boys try to roll kegs that bite back. It only takes a moment to reduce him into a workman's comp case once the spine goes. Or the main muscle groups etc.

Give it a try; you can always go back to food service. There's always opening for both beverage and food service. Doubtful the customers can be as obnoxious as food service customers.

Most places don't let you just jump into shuttles like you did. Most places the shuttle positions after taken by senior, semi-retired drivers.

This maybe very well be true, but I can only speak of what I know, well at lest some of the time.Semi retired, not here. 3 per night between Mojave and Bakersfield is right at 12 hours per night 5 days with frequent option on running on the 6 day for OT. Pay for transport / shuttles is a little lower than store routes, but no problem I'll take the less traffic, and no people.. Just me and the Tiger in my tank, and sometime Willie and Waylon..

Hustling beer not going to pay nearly what food service does. Not to mention all the pack out and rotation that comes with beer delivery. No thanks. I'll keep hustling food. Just my opinion.

Where I’m at more booze in the basements than food. Also rotating stock would suck.

Totally not worth it. (see my diary thread why) Like you said, the only thing you have going for you is the mon-thurs daytime schedule. i did side loader for a while and i personally liked that better than "regular beverage."

i mean IF you don't mind all the work, then i guess it's ok for you. However, there are other ways to get the daytime m-f daytime schedule AND make the same if not more $$$ than food/beverage. Again, please see my updates to my diary thread soon.

i don't know. Any guy that does food, beverage, or dock and does it day in and day out and doesn't mind it, my hat is off to you.

What beer delivery job only works Monday-Thursday? Friday thru Sunday is probably the busiest days for consuming beer.
